A brief history
Created by Gary 3 months ago
George was born in Battersea, London on 14 February 1931 to his father George and mother Anne. He was evacuated during the war to Reading where he attended school, a Scout Group and a church youth club. He served his National Service in the Army, with the REME, with postings to Egypt and Kenya, where he set up Scout groups for local children. He married his wife, Joyce, when he returned from National Service. They moved to Bracknell, when it was being developed as a new town, working for Corrugated Products as a maintenance engineer. After having his son, Gary, he become a Scout leader with the 3rd Bracknell Scout Group and also helped at a youth club for the mentally handicapped. George and Joyce enjoyed travelling and visited relatives in Australia several times, one time renewing their marriage vows there. After retiring from full time employment, George and Joyce, worked together as health and safety trainers, which allowed them once week to visit a different store in the South of England, before spending the rest of the day exploring new locations. George has one son, Gary, a daughter in law, Sue, two grandchildren, Jay and Nicki, and two great granddaughters, Bella and Evie. George also had many loving family members, close friends, neighbours and attentive carers. He will be greatly missed.
